I'm Steph, a creative problem solver

I pursued design as a career because there are two things that I've known about myself since I was a kid: I enjoy being creative, and I'm good at solving problems. I'm passionate and caring by nature and I enjoy creating meaningful human experiences. As a Lead Product Designer at Shopify, I get to use my skills to help others do what they love most!

When I'm not at work, I like to spend my time caring for plants, playing video games, connecting with friends and family, practicing yoga, and most of all hanging out with my cat and hubby.

My role as a UX advocate is to represent the user's needs and goals. I use curiosity, research, logic, empathy, and collaboration to anticipate behaviours and design workflows or solutions. I work with a diverse team to bridge UX with product strategy and technical design to translate it into a cohesive product experience.

I’m a creative problem solver always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow. With a solid foundation in branding and graphic design, I've grown to focus on interactive user experiences. I enjoy working on human and infrastructural problems that require diverse perspectives, collaboration and innovation.

These days...

I'm working on raising the quality bar of apps in the Shopify ecosystem. These apps allow merchants to customize their stores, as well as manage and automate processes via an ecosystem of 1st and 3rd party solutions. By clearly defining and measuring the quality of apps, we're providing better solutions for merchants and helping our app developers meet higher standards of safety, usability and usefulness.
